LARKIN - Everything except the Wild-Postings

Posted here is everything for Larkin EXCEPTthe Wild Postings (shooting them tomorrow).
There is the menu, the menu in the paper, the menu on the door gate, as well as the dumpsterand the fake resraurant. I was thinking ofsomehow closing the door to the restaurant but a part of me likes it open and we can assume that when the patron enters, he can't get into the NEXT door. The people in windows are pictures and the menu is also featured out front...
When I submit this I will have this all on a big 11x17 explaining all of it.
Anything need to be changed let me know asap. If it doesnt look right, etc.

Art Direction Question...

In class we viewed Jordan's portfolio and it was really impressive, one thing I noticed about his pieces were that within the same campaign, the fonts changed from ad-to-ad depending on the theme. I was under the impression that the font should be the same through-out the campaign. What are your thoughts?

Ben Davis Headlines Round 2

I plan on shooting this weekend pictures at the cemetery, bridge beams and some kind of old tavern or location that looks like it could have been around during the depression when I'm in Seattle!

Update 3/29
???????????????????
I printed out all my pdfs again, I guess we can look at them tomorrow. No one gave me any input so I was kind of working blindly all break!!!!

I made this post like 2 weeks ago when I missed class (by the way there is an explanation in there too)

____________________________________________________________________

3/15/10

Aside from whats posted in the scribd thing, I have ads for Tweezerman 3 print (which me and David went over - it features subjects with eye-brow hair do's), and I have a brand new campaign in another class for Larkin Street Youth Orginaztion - they help homeless teens so the ad is 3 print (showing nice dinners made from trash) 1 ambient menu (with nasty trashy described entrees thats placed in a real restaurant menu and removable) and 3 window displays (for Macys that show off 1) a bed made from cardboard and newspaper advertised like a bed they are selling with a description that explains how u wouldnt want to be in their position) 2) jewelry that the homelss make advertised as fine jewelry, and 3) chinaware made from foil and dirty paper.

By the way when I reduced my file size for this pdf it screwed up a few ads with the color. The orignal was way to big. I dont know what to do about it...

spring show deadline?

When is the deadline for spring show entries??

Krylon rd.2

New Krylon executions. We are now showing graffiti being painted over with impressionism
style painting (which is also done with spray paint) to show vines or another painting related
to nature slowly covering the graffiti. The tagline is Krylon - Nature Approved. Basically, it
should be showing that Nature always will win, and this non-toxic h2o latex paint by Krylon
is better sustainable than other paints. These are some quick executions I did to see how
they would look. There will be a billboard in this campaign that shows 3 stages of this effect.
Stage 1: Just graffiti on billoard. 2: You see some plants growing up (impressionsism style -
which is painting with dots- like Monet) and stage 3: shows the painted plants nearly taking
over the whole graffiti... 100% non-toxic. Mother nature is happy. Also, coming with the ads
to the consumer is a stencil with every can. The stencil reads as follows -
“Painted By:_________________ With Krylon non-toxic h2o Latex, the nature approved paint.”

So thats so far what the idea is. It's kind of a tricky execution and I still dont know if it will be a strong
enough ad. I dont want to waste all my time with a not-so-great ad since I have so much work this semester.
What do you think? Do you guys want to see any other work from another class? I have one campaign that is
3 print, 1 ambient, 3 outdoor window displays, 1 viral video, and 2 outdoor ambient (bus stop and bus)
that I think will be perfect for this class. If you want I can explain it and scan in everything. Below is
the quick executions. Please lemme know feedback on the idea...

Also, I'll be posting Malava soon and I am working on Tweezerman ads, Photoshoot this next week. We got a hair stylist :)

Okay so the plants in these pdfs if you could look really close its actually just dots of color..

katie wants to work on this

2

Hi, I decided I don't want to work on the body shop in two classes, so Jon had previously suggested previously that I work on this. I have a commercial that goes with it that I didn't upload. I want to keep the same idea, but I need two more print and obviously a new direction visually. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Krylon

EDIT 3/6/2010

Body: We believe in a sustainable future, and have found a way to make the paint you color your life with more ecologically friendly. Our new non-toxic H2O Latex paint has significantly lower harmful emissions and CVCs (the stuff we don't want in our air), giving you one less thing to worry about in the fight against global warming. This is as natural as it gets.

Tag: Krylon - Naturally Superior

I don't think a headline is needed, do you?

EDIT 3/5/2020

Hows this idea? I'm at the photoshoot right now and this crossed my mind...

I also have all the comps I had in photograph form now... including the new ones with the wall background. Will post soon. But what about the new idea?

EDIT 3/4/2010:

Okay, new headlines coming up. Probably going to play off the "Saving the world one color at a time" edge.

As for layout... I could do it a graffiti style, text on the wall, fruit/spraycan on the bottom (would it be to forced??)

Or what also might look good is a minimalist style with white background and super clean?

Photo shoot tomorrow, let me know what you guys think!

Work kept me late. Way too late. Sorry I had to miss this one.

I am shooting Krylon ads Friday. Here is some quick layouts I made and am thinking about. Please let me know any other suggestions or layouts, keep in mind I still need new fonts and these are very rough, including the headlines, etc. Should I use a darker background? Different layout ideas? Let me know please!

Also... spring show deadline is when? I can't find it anywhere...

Thursday, February 4, 2010

Please post PDFs of your portolio and weekly projects.

Let's do this so the posts aren't 40 miles long. Put all of your ads you want to show each week in a single PDF. If you have 4 campaigns it means they are all in a single PDF. Use the easy steps below to see how you upload your PDF to scribd.com and then post it to the blog.

Thanks.
